I work with people who are feeling stuck in their lives in some capacity - relationships, work, life purpose - and who want to move out of this stuck place. If you are interested in changing the unconscious patterns that keep you from living the life you desire, I invite you to experience a counselling session with me. My approach is calm, mindful, and respectful. I don't focus on your past. Instead, I work with what is currently affecting you.

Supporting others begins with the presence of a safe space of openness and acceptance that facilitates a client’s innate yearning for healing, growth, and self actualization. My own journey has led me to the joy, mystery, and wonder of self discovery, the healing experience of healthy relationships, and finding meaning and purpose in life. The enjoyment in my work as a therapist comes from guiding clients on their journey to discover what brings them joy and to help them reconnect to their inner resources – their strengths, wholeness, peace, deeper nature, and internal guidance and wisdom.

I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the effectiveness of psychotherapy. My goal as therapist is to establish a relationship with my client that will allow me to effectively understand them in a nonjudgmental way and challenge them to grow and gain new perspective. People often seek out therapy to work on their problems when really, it's their solutions that are no longer working. Does this sound familiar? As a skilled therapist, I will partner with you to clarify what is important and help you design creative, meaningful and lasting change in your life. In our work together, you will notice that I am very encouraging, and I will challenge you when you look like you could use it. Together we will create a space where you can bravely experience the sometimes-uncomfortable feelings that come with personal growth.

Humanistic Counsellors

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
