Heather Sutherland's Groups
Stress Management
The group focuses on skills to help us cope & address the challenges we are facing. This includes identifying: early warning signs of stress, stress related symptoms, key stressors, & current coping strategies. Participants will learn & practice effective strategies including: calming the mind & body, challenging negative thoughts, understanding what you can & cannot control, changing behaviour patterns, problem solving, and steps to establishing & maintaining healthy balance. Each person brings their own set of unique strengths to the group.
Emotional Support group
This group is for people who would like additional support because of their current circumstances. It is not intended to replace individual counselling. The focus will be on discussing current concerns, offering emotional support, and sharing strategies people have found effective. The topics will overlap some with the Stress Management group and the Assertiveness group. Talking with others can often help put our problems in perspective and remind us that we are not alone. Connecting with others can be very rewarding.
