Student therapist accepting new clients! As someone who grew up in a religious household where I did not feel safe to be myself, I am familiar with the long-term impact that this can have on queer and trans folks. Drawing from experience, I hope to build healing relationships with clients that prioritize autonomy and consent. I recognize, and aim to minimize, the power differential between counsellor and client. I work from an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and intersectional perspective. I aim to be flexible and responsive to my clients' needs.
Some of my areas of interest and life experience include gender affirmation, religious trauma, disordered eating, disability, and social anxiety. I am a white, queer, trans fem, neurodivergent (ADHD) student counsellor living with chronic pain. I am drawn to Internal Family Systems (or parts work) and somatic therapy but I'm open to whatever works for you.
If you experience transmisogyny, transphobia, ableism, or confusion around identity, I think we might work well together. I recognize that there is an unfortunate lack of trans fem counsellors and I'm happy to help fill in that gap. Additionally if you grew up in a household where you felt like you needed to hide who you are, I'd love to work with you.
