Relational Psychotherapy is an approach that focuses on the connection between self and other. This type of framework locates a person’s difficulties within an interconnected web of relationships. The premise is that we are born into relationships and we are formed by them. In these relationships we can experience both trauma and joy and it is through relationship that we can begin our journey towards integration and personal wholeness. We cannot eradicate suffering but we can allow it to transform us to bring our best self forward into the future.
As a Relational Psychotherapist, my role is to gently walk beside you and to listen deeply to your innermost struggles. We will bear witness to your struggles for the purpose of gaining understanding, self-compassion, awareness and ultimately self-growth.
Relational Psychotherapy is best suited for individuals, couples and families who are experiencing chronic emotional, mental, relational or spiritual distress and who would like to engage in deeper therapeutic work to integrate aspects of their story long forgotten or disavowed due to shame, fear, despair or guilt.
