I specialize in supporting clients who are 2SLGBTQ+, neurodivergent, experiencing grief (all kinds), navigating life transitions or identity formation, unlearning diet culture, and those ready to process/heal from religious based harm.
Are you coming to therapy with questions about your identity, trauma, taking up space, doubt, or how to navigate change or difficult relationship dynamics? Do you feel like you might be the only person who has ever felt this way? Or like anxiety has been keeping you from accessing the support you deserve? As a queer person who has benefited greatly from my own therapy, I know how important it is to have a nonjudgmental space where I can show up as my whole and authentic self and have my grief, loss, and doubts witnessed and validated. I would be honoured to create that space with you.

I have worked with those experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, depression, eating disorders, abuse, anger, relationship issues, self-worthiness, sexual identity, guilt, shame, work related issues, complicated grief, and cultural identity.
It takes courage to begin therapy, and yet it is also your first step towards bringing about the change you desire. It takes belief in self that you are capable of becoming the person you want to be. I work with you to provide a safe, supportive environment that is based on trust that allows you to realize your own potential for growth beyond the difficulties you face. I have witnessed countless times clients who have shown how much they can overcome. Together we apply a mindfulness therapeutic approach, grounded in efficacy-based techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Positive Therapy and other.

Work through past trauma and grief.
Feeling Stuck? Are you unhappy? Do you doubt yourself? Want to make changes and don't know how? Doing what you "SHOULD DO" instead of what you 'WANT?" Do you feel a sense of emptiness or meaninglessness in you life? You have the power within you to alter your perceptions and limiting thoughts. Rather than look outside of yourself for meaning, I invite you to explore what's within. You can change the storage of your private thoughts The past is one chapter of your life and now you can create a new chapter that will support you.

Is there something you can't stop thinking about, like the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, an incident at work or a big life change? You might feel anxiety, shame, or guilt, and held back from doing the things you used to love. You might be feeling tired all the time or have negative thoughts, aches, or pains that you just can't get rid of. You know that you need to talk to someone about everything you've been through but don't want to burden your friends or are worried they might judge you. You're trying to make sense of what you've been through and want to start feeling like you're living again.

I have special interest and experience supporting women through trauma and abuse, others with issues of self-acceptance, relationship difficulties, cross cultural adjustment and the impacts of working in aid and development, as well as issues of faith, spirituality (including religious trauma), and supporting those surviving through grief and loss.
Are you looking for a safe space to share your story and reflect on what you want for your future? Do you wish for freedom from fear, and increasing joy in your life? I have needed these very things at different times in my own life, and the courage it takes to reach out has been worth it every time. With specialized training in CBT for anxiety I work from an anti-oppressive framework, using a strengths-based, individually tailored approach to each client’s experience and interest. I love working with individuals, families and youth, and I am passionate about supporting people in their desire to grow, to heal and to create change.

It is the reason you are here on earth. You have to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes too near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself that you tasted as many as you could.” Let's start your healing journey together, fellow passenger of Life.

"There is something wrong with me" is usually where people begin to seek therapy. I take that phrase and propose an alternate perspective. People are not problems to be fixed but beings to be known. Pain, grief, frustration, anger, sadness, anxiety, depression and many other issues that are brought to the therapy room are better addressed when better understood. I choose to take on an integrative and holistic approach to therapy which gives each person the freedom to explore the many different facets of who they are that contribute to the concerns they present.

Navigating through life can be challenging with the struggles we face such as, but not limited to, aversive life events, unwanted changes, uncertainties about the future, loss of a loved one, conflicts in relationships, and becoming your authentic self. Much of these life struggles throw an imbalance to our mental health wellness, causing difficult emotions to arise that seem to permeate through and taint every aspect of our lives. These challenging times may feel endless, and you may feel lost, but know that you are never alone.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
