As a therapist specializing in trauma, grief and relational issues, I mainly use somatic therapy, accompanied by emotion-focused therapy, family systems, attachment theory and existential therapy.
It takes courage to begin taking steps toward starting therapy. Has your life become too overwhelming and stressful to manage alone? Are you grieving? Trust me, I have been there too, and feeling anxious and fearful is normal. As your therapist, I will walk with you on your healing journey. A safe and supportive ambiance would be created where we can share openly and address your concerns. I would like to help you, especially if you are experiencing relationship/identity issues, anxiety, grief, or trauma. If you are open to working with me, together we could develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your unique goals.

Are you feeling weighed down by the pain of loss or trauma? Perhaps you’re experiencing the confusion that arises when life doesn’t go as planned. Or the self-doubt that can come from choices you’ve made in the past. Along with sadness, you might feel anger or a sense of shame. As a survivor of religious trauma, I have lived experience in the process of moving from this dark and lonely place to healing and hope. Whether you find yourself questioning the beliefs you grew up with or those of a group you chose to align with, we can gently bring what makes you uncomfortable into the light of day and move towards a brighter future.

I help clients with anxiety, depression, and those experiencing personal and collective grief and loss, including those who experience self-esteem and self-worth doubts, existential concerns and those searching for a purpose in their lives.
You are asking the big existential questions. Why am I here? What is the purpose of my life? Perhaps you keep looking to self-help books and always taking the next seminar or online course - always looking for the answers outside yourself. You want to feel connected to yourself, your loved ones, and the world around you, yet you feel like you don't belong. You feel loss and grief and are searching for purpose but are living with depression and anxiety and questioning your self-worth.

Are you feeling disconnected and disoriented about how to move forward in your life? Perhaps change has swept through your world and left you in disarray, picking up the pieces and trying to return to a time or place when you felt you had it all together and you knew who you were. Whether it’s an identity crisis, a struggle to adapt to a new role or a profound sense of loss, change often happens in ways that can leave us feeling disempowered and alienated from our own lives. While distressing, change can often be a powerful time to reinvent ourselves in a more authentic way. Psychotherapy and inner work are a pathway through.

Telephone Counselling for Women: I am a cross-cultural feminist therapist, weaving together ancient wisdom such as mindfulness, modern scientific discoveries, & a grassroots feminist approach. We both bring something special to the counselling relationship; you bring wisdom about yourself, I offer expertise on healing. Together we build a compassionate connection, & as a team we focus bringing balance into your life. As a telephone counsellor, I work with women across the globe. I accompany clients from a place of compassion, creativity, warmth, and humour as they move from the wounds of interpersonal, systemic, and intergenerational trauma (e.g., neglect, identity-based violence, childhood or intimate partner violence, premature death) towards fulfilling lives rooted in posttraumatic growth. In addition to working with clients who have experienced trauma and its related effects, I also work with clients who identify as experiencing stress (including anxiety disorders), sadness or depression, persistent guilt and shame, life transitions, grief, and existential questions related to life purpose and identity.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
