My specialities include helping people improve their depression symptoms, overcome challenging childhood experiences, and processing grief and trauma.
Accepting new clients! The first 30-minute session is free for new clients. Do you need help improving your depression symptoms? The generic self-care tips (think bubble baths, journaling and cups of tea) aren't working for you. Do you feel disconnected from your family or friends, and unsure of who you are anymore. Do you use social media or avoidance to cope with these feelings? They likely left you feeling depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, and overstimulated. As someone who understands how you feel, I want to help you feel excited about life again!

Along with being a general intern therapist, I am a certified grief counsellor.
Can I just say how proud I am of you! Looking for a therapist means you have acknowledged that there is some part of your life that could use a change. Fabulous! I love working with people who, quite frankly, have been through some pretty hard stuff and know that it has had a not-so-great impact on the way they think and act. The one thing I hold true above all else is that a person only starts thriving when they feel safe. Don't have a safe person? I am so here for you!

I specialize in grief and bereavement counselling and appreciate how grief shows up in our lives in so many ways, not limited to the death of a loved one.
I am a qualifying member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario with an MA in Counselling Psychology and Master’s in Public Health. I have been working as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a variety of settings, from palliative care to public health, since 2016. I have always had a desire and passion to work with people to better support their wellness, prioritizing the connections we make with one another and how these shape our experiences in life. This passion has led me to become a therapist as I have greatly appreciated and grown from my own experiences with my mental wellbeing journey.

Counselling can help you to develop a different relationship with the “chatter” in your head that tells you that you ”aren’t good enough” and that keeps you from daring greatly.  It can help you to look at the stories in your life that counter your shame—and give them a voice.  It can help you to acknowledge and accept loss in a compassionate manner as you would want for a friend.  It can help you to recognize your relationship with your mental health and how you interact with it.  It allows you to sort through your values and support you living in a way that aligns with what you want.  Counselling looks to support these and more.

As you walk through this journey, managing relationships, making challenging decisions, coping with grief, experiencing moments of lost control, and adapting to new life stages that may leave you feeling unprepared, my commitment to you as my client is this: I will walk with you on that path, and as a team, we can face the problems in front of you, together.
Life often unfolds with unexpected moments that can feel overwhelming, leaving us wondering how to navigate them. The daily routines and habits we fall into can become burdens, weighing us down. If you've ever found yourself saying things like, "I'm stuck, and I don't know what to do" or, "I don't know how I can make it through this," I want you to know that you are not alone. I know first-hand that therapy can be intimidating. Opening up and sharing your experiences and beliefs with someone you've just met can feel like a daunting task. I want to encourage you. even if therapy feels like it will be challenging, it is worth it.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
