You will gain understanding and clarity on various psychological and physiological symptoms, whether it's chronic anxiety, low mood, pain management or grief, communication skills and more.
Are you feeling unhappy in life? Do you often feel numb, detached or find yourself in sudden angry outbursts? You are not alone. In an attempt to protect oneself from being hurt again, it is not uncommon to disconnect, or numb out feelings. Though emotional detachment can affect a person’s physical, psychological and emotional development, however, being able to disconnect from our feelings may also be helpful when experiencing stressful situations. I am here to walk with you and support you in your journey. If you're here means you may be searching for a change. It takes a lot of courage to choose you. Congratulations.

A lot going on right now and you want someone to talk to? Feeling confused, in grief, have unprocessed trauma, or need help managing a diagnosis? Sometimes it helps to talk to someone, get reconnected, and re-centered so you can make the best decisions for yourself. I am here to listen, validate where you are today, and help you reflect on where you want to be. Talking it out may make the solutions obvious. Every step of the way is client-driven so therapies offered will fit with who you are and work with your strengths. Hopefully, together we can help you build a life that makes sense and fulfills you.

Life is full of challenges, and by overcoming these challenges we can learn, grow, and discover things about ourselves, others, and the world around us. Sometimes though, these challenges become too much to handle. Perhaps we’ve experienced a loss, a major change, or a trauma, something that has taken away the sense of control over our lives and we find ourselves stuck and overwhelmed, no longer able to learn from life’s challenges, but feeling helpless to overcome them. For many of us, this sense of overwhelm leads to symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
