Accepting new clients. If you struggle with self-love and self-compassion, together we look inward, to see what holds you back from being happy and content. Emotions (guilt/shame, anger, depression, & anxiety) are telling you something needs attention. Rather than avoid the problem, we problem solve. I help clients identify goals to gain clarity. We work on becoming emotionally resilient using many therapies to grow, emerge stronger and more peaceful. My approach draws from CBT, DBT, trauma-informed, somatic, and mindfulness-based therapies. I work with individuals (children, youth, adults), couples, and families.

I have worked with many different mental health situations, including but not limited to: trauma, LGBTQ issues, crisis, grief, suicide, personality disorders & anger.
Welcome to Druid Counseling! In relationship counseling, couples all report a failure of communication on some level. What does emotional accountability sound like? How do we convey a level of concern without giving offence to our partner? What does projection, defensiveness and anger management all have in common and needs to change to become positive growth? How can we move past accusation, defensiveness & accelerated domestic conflict with our partner towards stability, harmony and love? We start at the basics, and re-build, both in session & at home. Believe it or not, but there is hope. Success begins and ends with you.

My view on counselling is based upon the level of trust and the quality of the connection that we are able to create together. In essence, the relationship that we develop together is key. I would wish to provide you with a safe, caring environment where you could come to feel completely heard and understood. I see my role as being more of a Guide, offering support while at the same time gently encouraging your growth by pointing out certain areas, thoughts, beliefs or behaviours that may be keeping you stuck, or that you may be unaware of.

Most people I work with initially seek counselling as a result of some form of suffering. Sometimes this suffering is specific such as symptoms of anxiety, depression, addiction, stress or relationship issues. Other times the suffering is vague, a feeling of something being off, amiss, or worse. In either case, I meet people where they are at, either 'getting to it' (so to speak) and yet taking the time for whatever needs to unfold.

Do you have complicated family dynamics, or require support in your relationship? My work focuses on treatment resistant disorders, personality disorders, sexual funciton/dysfuction and chronic pain. How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
