About
We are all on a journey to become our best selves... but most of us can't accomplish that alone. Therapy helps people who are stuck in their suffering break through to more satisfying ways of being and ways of relating to others. I can help you develop greater mastery in addressing a wide variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem and shame, stress, grief/bereavement, relationship dissatisfaction, sexual identity, problematic substance use, living with HIV and other chronic illnesses, and lack of purpose or meaning in life.
Over 15 years in practice, I've developed a reputation for being a warm, intuitive and empathic therapist who is both highly collaborative and (gently) challenging according to need. I work from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy framework infused with a mindfulness perspective, but also incorporate Acceptance-and-Commitment, Internal Family Systems and Brief Therapy frameworks.
My ability to create a trusting and compassionate environment will help ensure your therapeutic success. I follow an anti-oppression approach, focus on deepening client self-acceptance and explore how core beliefs (about yourself, the world) may limit your well-being. I have considerable experience working in the corporate world and am a gay man.
