My focus is always holistic: we have to look at every layer - from the cues your body and nervous system are giving you to the systemic messages surrounding you - to reach not just the bandaids but the deeper roots of distress and, ultimately, growth. I work from an actively affirming and anti-oppressive lens.

Dr. Martin Rovers, Ph.D., Psychologist, and his Capital Choice Counselling Associates work with individuals, couples, and families from a family systems approach. Martin's therapy approach includes family of origin, attachment in family therapy (AFT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy, with emphasis on creating secure attachments within the relationship. Martin works within Capital Choice Counselling Group. I have been providing psychological assessment and therapy services since 1997. In private practice, I work with individuals (adults, adolescents, children), couples and families experiencing a wide range of concerns. Special areas of interest include depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, parenting, family conflict, separation and divorce. I also am experienced in working with individuals facing issues related to self, identity, and sexuality as well as unique challenges confronted by LGBTTIQQ2S individuals and their families.
