I describe myself as a transformational therapist not because it is trendy but because my approach is centred on transformation. Each of us has an internal drive towards healing; we seek to be better than "fine." We all experienced trauma in one form or another, no parent who has ever lived could meet every need we had as children. We all have parts of ourselves that we have cut off, disowned, or devalued. In therapy, we work together to construct a new experience, allowing you to reclaim who you truly are.
My training was founded in experiential therapy, which effectively treats trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse, neglect, addictions, etc. When you have a new experience grounded in a therapeutic process, it leads to a transformation in yourself. As a result, clients will leave feeling lighter, energetic, and excited.
We can never go back and change what happened to us, but we can transform how we feel about it. True healing is when you look at your past with mercy instead of loathing. If counselling hasn't worked for you in the past, perhaps it's time you experienced something different.
