Breakups, violence, illness, abuse, loss, grief, shame, abandonment, transitions, oppression, and feeling unloved and unworthy can be very painful. The counselling services I offer are focused on healing the whole mind and body. You will learn how to calm your nervous system and develop an embodied awareness of the strategies you developed as protection against further harm (fight, flight, freeze, fawn). Together we can reprocess and reconsolidate painful memories. My ideal client is open-minded, committed to bi-weekly appointments, and understands that healing involves engaging in calming & healing exercises between appointments.
Science shows that the whole person (mind, body, spirit) is impacted by trauma. The "bottom-up" approaches I use include healing relational trauma (attachment theory); unburdening protective "parts" (ego state therapy); releasing trauma from the body (somatic psychology), calming the nervous system (Polyvagal Theory), and reprocessing trauma (EMDR).
My aim is to provide you with a secure, safe, connected, experience that is conducive to healing. I really would like you to believe that you are a loveable worthy human deserving of peace, and healthy relationships. And for you to develop the skills to cultivate this in your life. My approach is rooted in an intersectional feminist anti-oppressive lens.

8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
I have studied, practiced and taught mindfulness meditation since 2007. I have attended silent meditation retreats and intensive programs with a variety of teachers including: Jon Kabat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli, the late Michael Stone, Normal Feldman, Molly Swan and all the teachers at True North Insight.
