Hi! I'm glad you're here. Speaking from experience, I know asking for help and prioritizing your mental health is hard. Facing the difficult aspects of your life is scary and it's easier to stay in the same patterns that have helped you survive. If you find those patterns don’t work for you anymore, it could be worth it to take that leap and reach out- and I'd love to take that step with you! I work with individuals, couples, and LGBTQIA+ community members dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, trauma, and relationship issues. I am also trained to assess for and diagnose ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder.

As a queer therapist, I understand the challenges of finding inclusive support and the transformative effects of collaborative therapy. I believe the most powerful aspect of therapy is a therapeutic partnership that learns and grows together. This means that I will bring my whole self into our work together and join you in your exploration and identify the things that matter to you. Healing and growth happen in the presence of safety and being truly seen and understood. I offer an anti-oppressive, queer, intersectional, and social justice approach to counselling.

I have worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, emotion dysregulation, Autism, and trauma. The majority of my experience is with adolescents and young adults, but I welcome individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

I am a queer therapist and embrace a poly/ feminist friendly & neurodiversity and gender affirming approach.
Lunch hour, afternoon/ evening & Saturday availability. Easy online booking. Counseling can be a slice of time for us to bring attention to what you’re feeling and, given what you’ve already experienced, notice what you're now ready to experience from here. My practice is rooted in nurturing secure connection with self and others. I work collaboratively supporting feelings of security, purpose & fulfillment, alongside a titrated release of anxiety/ fear. I am perpetually intrigued at how things can shift naturally and feel surprisingly easier as the wisdom in our body/ nervous system is effectively included in healing conversation.

I often use my lived experience as a queer, non-binary, and neurodivergent practitioner to connect with and understand clients.
I have experience working with children (ages 10+), teens, and adults facing challenges related to grief & loss, gender & sexual identity, chronic illnesses, disordered eating (including ARFID), school, phobias, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and trauma. I have a special interest in working with those who have experienced (or who will experience) the death of someone they love, and I also particularly enjoy working with queer, trans+, and gender-creative young people.

You struggle to feel like you're good enough. No matter how hard you try it feels like you don't measure up and you're always falling short. It's hard to find a space where you can truly belong and be yourself. Sometimes you feel overwhelmed by your life and relationships. Other times you feel completely hopeless. You are ready to let go of the belief that you were never good enough and begin to feel comfortable being yourself. Therapy can be a space where you can show up just as you are and learn to love yourself. It's your time to take off the masks, let go of the pressure, and begin to connect with your true self.

You feel overwhelmed and defeated. Regardless of how hard you try, you feel like you aren’t good enough. You struggle to live up to the expectations that you have for yourself and that everyone seems to have for you. These feelings may show up in your relationships with partner(s), family, or friends; in your career; or even in how you relate to your body. Maybe the seeds of self-doubt were planted by a well-meaning person in your life. Maybe they come from your social media feed or societal expectations to be perfect. You wish you could let go of the pressure and live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Living with chronic illness, disability, or neurodivergence is hard. Getting through the overwhelm of everyday life feels impossible. You're starting to feel like all you think about is your condition and everything it has taken away from you - work, hobbies, sleep, relationships. Your family and friends don’t get it. They try to help and probably mean well, but sometimes the dismissive way they say things makes you feel worse. You try to hide your symptoms to seem “normal” but inside, you feel like you might break.

LGBTQ+ Counsellors

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialised training, either during their degree programme or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalisation in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialised training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
