I help second-gen immigrants who keep themselves small, invisible and compliant to live unapologetically and authentically so that they can thrive in their most cherished relationships. As a child of immigrant parents, you likely straddle two cultures with opposing values. In Asian cultures like mine, you're expected to sacrifice yourself for the good of others, and in Canadian culture, you're expected to be assertive. There's a way to live so that you're respecting your family and culture, and being true to yourself. I help you to own your needs and desires, set healthy boundaries, and be genuinely happy in your relationships.
I use experiential therapies to address the parts of you that hold trauma or pain, often connected to childhood, so these parts help you rather than block you in your relationships and personal goals. I use modalities like internal family systems, emotion-focused therapy and focusing, which promote mind-body and right-left brain integration.
There is nothing I ask my clients to do that I haven't done myself. I have 11+ years of experience helping clients navigate family dynamics and heal from relational and cultural trauma.
