We work with folks leaving unhealthy/toxic belief systems and support them to navigate difficult emotions, understand the past and present, and gain autonomy in their decisions so that they can live authentically and on their own terms. Many who leave, deconstruct, or change religion or belief system experience a great deal of loss, stress, anxiety, depression, and overall disorientation. What was once a trustworthy belief system is now full of doubt, supports are no longer available, relationships often suffer, and past trauma or adverse religious experiences follow you wherever you go. The resulting loneliness can be staggering.
It is for this reason that we - given our skills as a counsellors and as people who have walked with many on this road - hold space for individuals in this unique, ‘in between’ place of their journey, so that they can move into the future confident in who they are and what they offer the world, and with the needed supports and community.
