Welcome! I am a therapist who specializes in working with women, with a particular focus on maternal mental health issues including perinatal anxiety and depression, the baby blues, and postpartum depression and anxiety. I also support clients with parenting concerns. I have office locations in both North Vancouver and Kitsilano and also provide home visits for those young families who would prefer counselling services in their home.

I am passionate about working with clients who have experienced traumatic events or adverse childhood experience. My clients often feel high levels of trauma related symptoms, anxiety or depression and they want relief from their negative emotions, flashbacks or nightmares. They need a safe relationship through which they get unconditional support and guidance towards their mental health goals. I also specialize in working with women who have experienced various adverse experiences including physical violence, emotional abuse or sexual assault.

I am passionate about working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship difficulties and/or overcoming trauma. My clients often describe themselves as feeling “stuck” or “unmotivated”. Sometimes it feels as though you are hitting a roadblock, and unsure how to move forward. I will help you explore your feelings and unpack the challenges you face. With goal setting, and developing skills, you will find yourself beginning to live a more engaged, and healthy life.

There are times of transition in women's lives that can leave us feeling stuck, unfulfilled, overwhelmed, or disconnected. The greatest area of growth the women I work with experience is the ability to transform these periods of transition into possibility. Transitions can be uncomfortable, yet they are inevitable rites of passage and necessary to your growth and expansion as a human being. I provide psychological services (i.e., assessment and therapy) to children, adolescents, and their families. I offer services to youth experiencing a range of difficulties, including: anxiety, selective mutism, OCD, depression, suicidal ideation, ADHD, behavioural and learning problems, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), pediatric health conditions (e.g., selective eating, sleep problems), interpersonal problems, and difficulties adjusting to divorce, loss or life changes. I provide assessment and treatment services that are comprehensive and driven by the latest research and best practice guidelines.

Individuals, couples, and families come to Sam often self-identify or have a diagnosis of ADHD/ADD, a learning disability, ASD, Asperger, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, or another developmental/cognitive/intellectual disability. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and have extensive experience helping clients who are navigating a difficult transition in their life. This includes leaving relationships, ending addictive behaviour patterns or grieving a loss. I also work with clients suffering with anxiety disorders, depression and trauma. I use a client-centred approach and work with YOUR goals for therapy. I am trained in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) I am honoured to be in this profession and strive to help clients understand themselves better.
