I am passionate about helping others discover how their or their child's unique brain learns best. I primarily work with the families of children and adolescents who are struggling in school, whether in their learning, attention, or behaviour. I especially appreciate working directly with families throughout the assessment and offering strategies to best support their child's needs. I also enjoy working with adults who feel that they slipped through the cracks in school, and would like to know more about their unique learning challenges.

My ideal family is one that is tired of hurting each other. My ideal family has at least one family member, usually a teenager, impacted by drugs, alcohol, and process addictions like video games. The healthy part of the family is motivated by fear to use control to stop their teenager from their addictive behaviour. If control is ineffective then power struggles can develop which tear at the family power structures. My ideal family has at least one family member who learns addictions are rooted in multigerational issues, trauma, and mental illness. Families want healthy loving interconnections and not power struggles.

Family Systems therapists view problems within the family as the result not of particular members' behaviors, but of the family's group dynamic. The family is seen as a complex system having its own language, roles, rules, beliefs, needs and patterns. The therapist helps each individual member understand how their childhood family operated, their role in that system, and how that experience has shaped their role in the current family.
