My name is Jennifer Barkin. I specialize in working with families in all areas pertaining to separation and divorce. I am a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, an Accredited Family Mediator with the Ontario Association of Family Mediators , a Parenting Coordinator , and a CDC Certified Divorce Coach. I have also trained in the Voice of the Child . My passion is helping people positively work through the changes in their families, better their relationships, learn effective co-parenting skills, co-parent when there is high conflict, and move forward happily and successfully.
I mediate all types of Family issues including Child focused parenting plans, Financial agreements, Co-hab agreements and Pre-nup agreements. I help clients to learn more effective ways of communicating, better their self esteem, and to create healthy boundaries. I provide counselling services to parents and kids, and I help blended families to succeed.
I know what it is like to go through a divorce with a young family since it is something that I experienced myself. Commonly people experience an array of emotions including self esteem issues, fear, anger, and sadness. My clinical MSW training combined with my Mediation and Divorce Coaching accreditations enable me to help people throughout their journey.
