"I think everyone should have a therapist. I realize how self-serving that sounds, but if we see a medical doctor on a regular basis (yes, you should do that too!) for our physical health, why wouldn’t we have someone in our pocket for mental health as well? If there is a stigma around mental health, there is stigma of having a therapist as well. I regularly meet with people that have never accessed a mental health professional and after one session you can see the anxiety leave them as I help take away those social pressures and instead focus on you, that’s what I want, to be team YOU!"

"Work shouldn't hurt. Indeed it should contribute to you reaching your full human potential. When you are exposed to work environments that violate your four basic needs: safe attachment, control, self esteem and distress avoidance, you can be injured and suffer severe psychological pain. My practice focuses on developing coping strategies when you can't leave and healing psychological injury sustained from harassment and discrimination, bullying, incivility and work overload. If you have been exposed to harmful environments you may be severely injured and may need treatment that focuses on these moral violations."

"Wouldn't it be nice if you could still enjoy life without the edge, tension, disagreements with your partner or lack of communication or constant disarray? Often times, life tends to present us with difficult challenges that impact the way we want to live. We are left feeling the constant stress, the pain and suffering, the tension, the fights and the resulting loneliness and isolation. We tend to hold onto the hope that one day this could get better or go back to the way it used to be, but the sadly the longer it feels "this way" the more hope drifts away. I aim to help individuals and couples struggling to find their ideal way."

"I have a passion for working with people who are struggling with intense emotions and difficulties regulating their emotions. As a single parent of two teenage daughters, I understand that life can be overwhelming sometimes; the demands of kids, work, bills, and relationships eventually catches up with all of us. Using the principles of Mindfulness, and Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies, I support people in learning new effective and healthy coping skills to replace old, less effective ways of being."

Family / Marital Counsellors
Therapists in T2R using the techniques of 'family therapy' work with families or couples both together and individually to help them improve their communication skills, build on the positive aspects of their relationships, and repair harmful or negative dynamics.

As an approach to therapy, 'family therapy' (also referred to as family systems therapy, marital therapy, marriage therapy, marriage and family therapy, marital therapy and family counselling) views change in terms of the systems of interaction between family members or couples.

Family relationships often affect psychological well-being and, regardless of the origin of an issue, or whether it may be the "individual" or "family" who is presenting it, involving the family in the solution can be of great benefit. Families participate directly in sessions during which the family therapist helps conversations in a way that draws upon and builds the strengths, wisdom and support of the wider family unit.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in T2R are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counsellor in T2R you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counselling or couples counselling in T2R and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counselling in T2R or family therapy in T2R.
