Welcome! Having been one of the first in Calgary to be certified in sex addiction therapy, the bulk of my practice consists of individuals and couples in various stages of sex and other addiction recovery. My dual specialties of trauma and addiction, combined judiciously with a strong background in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, have proven to serve my clients well. Trauma and addiction often co-occur; both are characterized by an understandable avoidance of painful emotion. The avoidance provides powerful relief, but the relief is temporary.
It is at this point that many folks get stuck and need help. Beyond tools, tasks, and techniques, the experience of a healing and affirming therapeutic relationship is also key to becoming 'unstuck' and to moving in the direction of health.
