I draw from Emotion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and internet memes (seriously lol) to help.
So many therapists! Who would've thought finding the right one would feel this overwhelming?

I chose social work as a career because I believed in the founding principles of the profession such as the dignity and worth of every human being and I support his/her right to self-determination. I work with all participants in ADOPTION to achieve their full identity as individuals and as family members. I assist expectant birth parents in considering the impact on their own lives of making and refining an adoption plan for their child. I prepare prospective adoptive parents for the role and special tasks of adoptive parenthood.

I use a variety of evidence-based interventions in my work, including CBT, mindfulness, internal family systems therapy and somatic approaches.
Seeking connection is a courageous act. In my practice with clients, I aim to honour the choice you’ve made to seek connection by striving to cultivate a therapeutic space that is kind, deeply caring, authentic, and responsive. Many of the individuals I have worked with have had life experiences that impacted their ability to feel safe, connected, compassionate, capable, confident, and regulated within themselves and the relationships and structures they exist in. I see the therapeutic process as a space where we can work together to pay attention to, understand and increase access to these attributes of wellbeing.

Trauma and difficult family relationships are often paired with neurodivergence for a variety of reasons.
You are important! I often hear my clients sharing their feelings of not being heard by their loved ones or not knowing where to start in their healing journey. I use self-compassion and your strengths as a starting point to build coping strategies. My goal is to always give you a space to be heard and someone on your team so you know you are not alone. I find the warmth of emotion-focused therapy and integrative approach of psychodynamic therapy combine to create a kind and deep understanding of my clients during their process. Your needs and boundaries are important, together we can work on building confidence and self-advocacy.

If you are Farsi or English speaking, I would be honored to provide ongoing therapeutic services to you and your family.
Many people spend vast amounts of time and money getting an education, obtaining a driver’s license, planning a wedding, or achieving their dream job, but few people are willing to spend the same amount of time and money investing in understanding themselves, knowing their values, and determining how to choose a partner who is a good match for them. By educating ourselves about who we are and what we really want in our lives, we increase the possibility of living happier lives.

I have had a private practice over 18 years. Due to the Covid outbreaks, I now see clients only through online methods.

If you are struggling with meeting the expectations of your society, workplace, or family; if you want to find out who your natural unmasked self is; if you want to shut out external noise and reconnect to your intuition; if you want support in your courageous journey to a more authentic life, lets talk.
For anyone out there who feels like they are failing at “having it all,” I’m here to break it to you. You haven’t failed. Attaining perfection in our lives is a myth, and it’s holding so many of us back from the happiness we deserve. Especially in this modern day and age, we are flooded with highlight reels of what our lives should be. While most of us would admit that no one’s life can be picture perfect 24/7, many of us still stretch ourselves too thin to “do it all” to gain acceptance from society. The truth is this... It is almost impossible to have a picture perfect life without serious consequences to your wellbeing!

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
