Modern life presents challenges: unanticipated changes and problems that appear to have no easy solution. There are times when counselling and support can help. Sharing concerns often leads to greater insight and promotes positive change. As a Registered Social Worker in practise for over 20 years, I am licensed to practise counselling and psychotherapy. Trained as a Child and Family Therapist, I have worked with clients of all ages. My counselling style is client-centered and strengths based. Together we will identify your goals and work toward accomplishing them, encouraging greater resiliency in the process.
I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR and insight oriented therapy. My practice is trauma informed. I integrate neuroscience knowledge in my work and use psycho-education to help my clients better understand themselves and their relationships.
Throughout my years of providing counselling and psychotherapy, my clients have addressed anxiety, depression, family conflict, parent/child problems, and school problems. I have also helped clients with self-regulation and with managing stress more effectively. Working with children with anxiety and selective mutism has been a special interest.
