As a highly sensitive and creative person, I understand how the world can be overwhelming to navigate. We yearn for depth and connection, but our batteries drain quickly. We value insight and awareness, but our nervous system is highly responsive to others’ stories and suffering. Our empathy can easily fall into the trap of comparing ourselves with our peers. We might internalize the message that we are “too sensitive” or “weak” when our needs differ from the majority. Our tendency to be reflective and seek understanding is often misunderstood, or worse, dismissed as “thinking too much”.

Sadly, these harms can be further echoed in therapeutic spaces and often mirror our upbringing, especially if our families weren’t equipped to recognize and support our highly sensitive temperament. At Explore Counselling & Art Therapy, we will learn how to use your sensitivity and creativity as resources to support your path to wellbeing.

We will get curious about your values, and gently approach the parts of you that have been wounded. We will witness your story with compassion and cultivate practices that help you feel at home inside yourself so you can keep sharing your gifts with the world. Art Therapy Circle - Seasonal

These 6-week art therapy circles are offered four times a year and are kept small to create a comfortable environment for creative exploration and sharing. Our process includes orienting, connecting, exploring, creating, reflecting and witnessing. No artistic prowess or expensive art supplies needed. Sessions are usually 2 hours long and are an affordable way to support your mental health. As of Spring 2024, art therapy circles are available virtually and in person at my new home studio.
