My expertise is in working with difficulties related to relational dynamics, especially those found in Asian/Asian North American contexts and families. In addition to having lived in Hong Kong, I've worked diverse clients in Los Angeles and Vancouver and I enjoy working with people who are hoping to make better sense of themselves and others from multiple perspectives. Former clients of mine regularly feel as though they are more aware of their "blind spots", are more free to make good life choices, and are prepared to have more fulfilling relationships overall.
I primarily work within a psychodynamic psychotherapy framework. This means we will talk about whatever you wish, but I am always interested in your relational and emotional being as these are keys to your healing. I'm also interested in helping people untangle and develop new perspectives to their past, current, and future faith expressions.
My cultural background affords me a unique insight into immigrant and second generation ways of being, while my theological and psychological education has granted me the ability to understand and help people develop self-understanding and peace with themselves in these contexts. My experiences as a pastor, chaplain, and teacher are also helpful.
