It takes courage to reach out for help but healing is within reach! I have been a practicing community mental health therapist in Athabasca and surrounding areas for several years and feel fortunate to have been able to hold space for people, as they process challenges or work towards personal growth. To allow healing to begin, I often utilize EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy when survival patterns no longer serve you. Healing trauma where it lives in the body and nervous system, allows our frozen patterns to move towards safety.
I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work Degree specializing in clinical counselling, working from an anti-oppressive, strength-based perspective. My approach focuses on empowering individuals by understanding the broader systems and contexts that shape their experiences.
With compassion, I utilize evidence based approaches such as EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help inform my interventions to support healing from either recent and/or past traumas.
