My name is Dustin Reekie - a Registered Psychologist who works with teens, adults, families – and sometimes couples. For over ten years in my practice, I have worked with anxiety, executive-functioning challenges (i.e., ADHD) and as a Certified Sexual Addiciton Therapist (CSAT, International Institute of Trauma and Addictions Professionals) I help individuals with out-of-control sexual behaviour. Before being a counselling psychologist, I served for fifteen years as special education teacher and then as a school psychologist.
I find the interventions for young people’s emotional recovery are readily adaptable and highly applicable to adults struggling with out-of-control behaviours. The same principles apply: building self-awareness and self-regulation, teaching healthy ownership, environmental awareness, and improving communication with others.
I help people address problematic behaviours that bring dysfunction and pain to their lives. Often the out-of-control behaviours are in fact contrary to the person’s own value system but have become an automatized form of dysfunctional self-regulation. We can work together, building hope and good days.
