As parents, we are often challenged when our children are exhibiting challenging behaviour. We see them struggling with anxious thoughts, explosive outbursts, negative self-talk, separation anxiety, verbal or physical aggression, or having difficulty with peer interactions. Sometimes there are traumatic experiences, and our children can't put their experiences into words, but we see the impact on their ability to cope and thrive. As a registered clinical counsellor, I aim to help children and families figure out new ways of being, discover how they want to be different, and new ways to view their experiences.
Play is the natural way for children to express and communicate. Expressive therapies such as sand tray, art, & play help children to express & transform their loss, grief, anxiety, shame, and trauma. They get to try new ways of coping, thinking about themselves, and discovering their own self & resources. I bring 24 years of experience working with children
Taking the first steps to find developmentally and age appropriate therapies for children and youth can sometimes feel overwhelming. I offer an initial phone consultation along with an intake session with parents prior to commencing sessions to ensure that there is a good counsellor-child/client fit.
