70 years of life experience has been my best teacher (even though I have all the necessary professional training.) I have experienced loss when 2 spouses passed away from disease. I have won my own battles with cancer and addiction. I have raised 4 children, 2 step children (some with special needs) and now enjoy 12 grandchildren. I treat anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and anger by addressing the root of the problem - trauma. I am trained in EMDR, which is useful in healing PTSD (both childhood and adult trauma). Within minutes (not months) the pain of trauma may be permanently erased and people are less triggered in life.
I have advanced training in the Gottman method of couples counselling. This is a research based, cutting edge therapy that is very effective in helping couples build emotional connection, manage conflict and restore shared meaning and purpose. Through the process, the couple solve their own problems as I direct their conversation with one another.
My approach is to be completely accepting and nonjudgemental of any client. I have 9 years of experience working in an addiction treatment centre. I am the author of a book, which led to presenting 7 programs on CTV. I offer a reduced fee for those who are on a low income. Please feel free to discuss this on your first session.
