About
In over 20 years of private practice, I've had the privilege of helping many people work through their difficulties and cultivate more satisfying lives. As a psychotherapist, a couple and family therapist, and a music therapist working in palliative care, I bring compassion and creativity to the therapeutic relationship. In a warm, confidential space, I'll help you explore your inner life, face your challenges, develop your strengths, and thrive. My expertise is in the areas of loss and grief, depression, anxiety, relational problems, adjustment to illness, and stress management.
In individual therapy, we'll work collaboratively to gain insight into the roots of the problem, identify how unhelpful old patterns repeat themselves in the present, support strengths, and mindfully foster the changes you hope to bring into your life. This approach is primarily psychodynamic, incorporating cognitive strategies where useful.
In couple therapy, we'll identify problematic patterns of interaction, then explore the needs and desires that fuel them. Couples work to develop effective, respectful communication, honouring the integrity of each partner while strengthening the couple bond. More responsive, compassionate relationships are nurtured, usually leading to greater intimacy and satisfaction.
