I am a dedicated social worker and therapist who specializes in the mental and emotional health of racialized communities, and has expertise working with Black African Diaspora boys and men. I have a strong commitment to helping people heal through trauma, including African and Indigenous-centered understandings of healing and people of colour whose mental health has been greatly harmed by the effects of colonialism and subsequent marginalization, war, violence and poverty. I help clients heal the mind, an entity that can be so easily damaged by distressing experiences, while fostering an interconnection between mind, body and soul.
My specialty is working with individuals, couples and families. I bring a culturally and ethno-religious specific lenses to my work, including African, Indigenous, Muslim, and Jewish. I utilize a range of therapeutic modalities, including Solution-Focused Therapy, Faith-Based Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
As a therapist at Become Resilient Individuals (BRI) Counselling Services, I create a warm, safe, welcoming and brave space where all voices can be heard, challenges overcome, and lives transformed. The BRI Counselling mission is to ignite hope, build strengths and empower people to become more resilient in all aspects of life.
