As a certified Child Life Specialist, I specialize in paediatric psychosocial care and emotional safety. In both healthcare and community settings, certified Child Life Specialists help infants, children, youth and families cope with the stress and uncertainty of acute and chronic illness, injury, trauma, disability, loss and bereavement. In the school system, I focus on challenging emotional behaviours for children with a multitude of diagnoses (ADHD, ODD, GAD, etc.) from pre school to junior high.
Certified Child Life Specialists provide developmentally and psychologically appropriate interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety, and pain. My main focus, no matter what setting, is to decrease stress and increase coping.
If your child or family is in need of some support or direction when it comes to challenging emotional behaviours in school, at home or within the health care system, please reach out with your questions.
