Waitlist for new clients
I have also worked in a variety of counselling settings including eating disorders and addictions, employment and career counselling, intimate partner violence, and workplace and occupational stress.
Only accepting new individual clients for day-time appointments. I view counselling as a courageous act and as an opportunity for personal growth. I believe those seeking counselling are the experts of their own lives and I act as a neutral third party without judgment to be a sounding board/cheerleader. Together we put the puzzle pieces together to make sense of questions and move forward. My practice is guided by client-centred therapy and my approach uses a variety of modalities including behavioural and cognitive-behavioural therapies as well as other therapies for more of an eclectic stance.

Sometimes people get stuck. Individuals and couples come to me for counselling to talk about a variety of problems - things like conflict in relationships, anxiety, depression, overwhelming stress, abuse, grief, vocational crisis, or anger. A counselling relationship helps people to move from understanding issues to co-creating solutions - solutions that shrink and manage problems. I use an integrative approach, drawing on different counselling methods depending on what works best for the client, including practices from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and solution-based therapy. I can help you to move through difficult times with courage, accountability, and positive resolve.

Relationship issues are my primary focus; whether that be with couples or individuals who are looking to explore and heal attachment wounds, sex/intimacy, family dynamics, communication, parenting, and other common interpersonal issues.
Accepting some new clients! You are in the right spot if you are feeling stressed out, anxious, and overwhelmed in general or by life transitions. It is also the right spot for you (individually or as a couple) if you’re feeling lost in navigating your relationships; if you feel as though your needs aren’t being met; if you’re having difficulties engaging with sex and intimacy; or if you don’t know how to get “unstuck” from unhelpful patterns. Moving through life and relationships are basic parts of the human experience and yet, they can feel SO hard. Know that this is natural and it is where our work begins.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
