I know the difference the quality of your relationship makes, and so I take your experience quite seriously.
Relationships should enrich your life—they should bring you more joy, depth, and safety than you’d experience without them. In my work, I know what’s at stake—I know about the comfort and vitality that secure relationships can bring us, and I know too about the fear and loneliness that we can fall into when by nature, we’ve stopped paying attention. These lows can leave us remembering our early days and wondering where we’ve gone wrong, or whether we’ve ever been right for each other from the start. I know the intense pain of losing hope.

My work is in supporting people to improve and strengthen their relationships with others, and who are willing and interested to begin with nurturing their relationship with their own dear self. I support in parenting, step-parenting, not-parenting, care for self and others, feeling and knowing from emotions, building confidence, and journeying through grief and loss. I also work with people who are exploring their sense of belonging and well-being in the context of their relationship to colonization. I recognize that this is a long path, deeply benefited by being grounded in relationship. Also offering CBT-I for better sleep.

Members of our team have a broad base of training and experience working with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, stress/burnout, cultural and self-identity, immigration, and emotion regulation.
Trauma, loneliness, and pain are a part of life. We can't choose when these experiences find us, but we can choose how we respond and maybe even open new paths. Our team of psychotherapists are here to support you in your healing journey by bringing clarity, reducing overwhelm, and supplying you with the skills and tools you need to reconnect with your authentic self. We hold a safe space in which you can explore, heal and grow, without fear of judgement. We do this through practicing culturally-responsive, LGBTQ-affirming, and trauma-informed care and creating a unique treatment plan tailored to you using evidence-based therapies.

With a compassionate and inclusive approach, I create a safe space for 2SLGBTQ folks to discuss their identities, gender transition goals, address relationship dynamics, develop coping strategies, and foster emotional well-being.
Taking new clients for evenings and weekends! As a therapist, I treat adults seeking support with their sexual orientation or gender identity, along with the challenges of coming out. I also treat symptoms such as anxiety, and depression, or are seeking assistance in family conflicts. As a member of the WPATH, I can offer letters for adults seeking gender-affirming care services that require a therapist's letter. Lastly, those who come to see me want to look deep into themselves, and set goals to parse through their internal judgments to see how our negative experiences with others and society have impacted our own self-esteem.

My clinic specializes in relationship issues, anxiety, and perfectionism.
In navigating life's challenges, we often construct defenses that, while once protective, now leave us feeling stuck and isolated. Together, we will work to chip away at these accumulated layers and begin to articulate a more authentic and comfortable way of being in the world. My approach is rooted in compassion and understanding, offering a safe haven for healing while encouraging you gently to your full potential. Together, we'll shift from the shadows of criticism, fear and shame to a path illuminated by self-discovery and growth.

I'm so glad you're taking steps to look for the connection and space you need. It can be hard to find a therapist that clicks. Therapy can be a space to cultivate radical acceptance, get clear on your relationship patterns, strengthen your resources, and sow the seeds for the courage to make shifts. Our work together is collaborative, working at the pace of your nervous system and at the speed of trust with yourself and each other.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
