Whether it be working with individuals, couples, or families, I bring a deep passion and curiosity regarding the innate strengths, knowledge, and wisdom that exist within all individuals and related systems that support new ways of seeing and experiencing the world.
Relationships in our lives present us with an infinite number of experiences that bring successes, challenges and everything in between. The stories that we live everyday contain relationships that form the foundation of our mental and physical well-being. There are times when we want the current stories in our life to continue and at other times we hope and need for something to change so that we can live the life we desire as an individual and in relation to others. Regardless of the challenges you are experiencing there is a way to find a path forward towards a desired story that will bring fulfillment and joy in your life.

I am honoured and privileged to build and develop a therapeutic relationship with you, based on trust, safety, and connection. I believe this is essential for supporting you in your journey of healing, as you navigate the complexities of this world. I use a brain-based and relational approach to therapy. I realize that our brain patterns are shaped by our relationships, and they can cause us to experience shame. I am passionate about working with teens, young adults, adults, couples and families, and helping them transform into confident and successful people with effective life skills.

As a relationship counsellor, I help individuals, couples and families build healthy, relationships within themselves and with those around them, focusing on improving connection, communication, and conflict resolution through mindfulness and emotional regulation strategies.
Please note, as of September 15, 2023 I have moved to Suite 502, 933 17th Ave. S.W., Calgary AB T2T 5R6. Relationships have different seasons and cycles. Challenges can arise however when great sex (or any intimacy at all) is a distant memory, communication becomes stuck, and a feeling of closeness is longed for again. These are all signs that a different approach is needed to end the frustration and created a renewed aliveness. The desire for intimacy, to feel connected, and to matter are key aspects of who we are as human beings.

My passions include anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, boundary setting, self-esteem/confidence, shame and guilt, stress and burnout, emotional regulation, school and work-related challenges, life transitions, men's mental health, and relationship difficulties.
I respect that everyone experiences life differently, coming to therapy with their own story. At times, the voice that tells the story may be self-criticizing and judgemental. My hope for our work together is that you come back to yourself and recognize your inherent strength and capacity for growth. Working from an attachment-based and trauma-informed perspective, I will meet you in a space of authenticity and vulnerability as we explore your inner world and help you develop a stronger and safer connection to self, others, and the world around you. All of you is welcome here, and it is my pleasure to join you.

By providing a safe space to explore therapeutic concerns, I help individuals, couples and families better understand their experiences, the emotional pain that is keeping them stuck, and how to adopt new habits and interpersonal patterns that foster connection and self-efficacy.
So many of us can relate to the experience of feeling stuck. Maybe we've been hurt by loved ones and struggle to feel a sense of trust and connectedness. Some of us feel caught in patterns that aren't serving us, such as anger, racing thoughts, perfectionism, or self-criticism. Intense emotions may overwhelm and confuse us, causing us to spiral or lash out at others. Despite our best efforts and intentions, we may find ourselves unable to change these destructive patterns. We want to stop feeling overwhelmed and out of control. We want to feel understood, accepted, more balanced emotionally and secure with others.

I specialize in depression, anxiety, trauma, couples work, life transition, belief system struggles, religious trauma, existential and self discovery, and sexuality and gender issues.
I aim to meet my clients apart from the pretension and stigmas of the psychology world, as well as the norms of culture/society in general. Creating a space apart from all the things we think we need to be and should be allows for an authenticity to engage the obstacles in life in a new way. Therapy should not be “one size fits all” and so with the expertise that you have of your life, combined with my skills and training, we can work together to get past both the internal and external things keeping you from being more of the human you were meant to be; creating a new mental space where you can continue to grow and thrive.

I am a PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy) trained therapist with specialized skills for helping couples understand patterned responses to relational conflict.
CONFIDENTIAL, COMPASSIONATE, SKILLED...My clients are curious, brave and ready to evolve, even if they're not quite sure what that looks like yet. They are looking to access the underlying roots of present day triggers, to live authentically in a world that promotes quick fix solutions and unending busyness. Meaningful growth commands us to slow down, pay attention, inquire within, and be (not do). Individuals that connect with me are ready for something different, something deeper. They are ready to develop a more compassionate relationship to the parts of self that are calling for attention. They are ready to thrive.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
