Hair pulling and skin picking can be very challenging to manage independently - they are highly complex behaviours. Often these Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs) result in shame and guilt. They can be isolating and worrisome. You may feel alone, but you are not. I specialize in treating BFRBs. I also regularly work with clients who have anxiety, obsessions and compulsions (OCD), impulsivity, and individuals who lack confidence (work, studies, relationships). As a Clinical Psychologist (22 years), my approach will help you to experience positive change in the short-term, and learn how to sustain this change in the long-term.
In Alberta, I am one of only a few therapists to have completed the ComB training - this is currently the gold standard cognitive behavioural approach to managing BFRBs. I combine this approach with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and, where appropriate, clinical hypnotherapy.
