"We've all experienced times in our lives that were challenging and left us unsure of what to do next. Sometimes this can lead us to feel isolated, and unsure of what to do next. As a Clinical Psychology student who is entering the final portion of my studies, I endeavor to use my skills, and the knowledge I continue to acquire to help people lead more satisfying lives. I use a client-centered and judgement-free approach, and work with you to understand not only your concerns, but you as an individual. I am particularly interested in helping you achieve the goals that you want, and help to guide you towards them."

"For more than 35 years I have been privileged to work with individuals: children, adolescents, adults, with couples and families in different configurations, and with groups. I also have been exposed to different schools of thought in psychotherapy and different ways of supporting people. I am not attached to any particular school of thinking or any particular school of helping, although I have a few strong attractions some of which include Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness. This profession, like many professions, is about growth, and so I would like to help you grow in your own unique way."

"I know from personal experience that mental health struggles can have a devastating impact on our ability to live full lives. It's that experience that led me to become a Clinical Social Worker, and to train as both an individual and family therapist. In our work together, we will develop the skills and strategies that you need to find relief from your symptoms. We will also help you to explore the root causes of those symptoms, so that you can achieve long-term change. I have worked in community mental health for 10+ years, so I can also help you navigate the broader mental health system."

"I am an experienced therapist with 28 years of practise to draw upon. I will listen carefully as you describe the issues that you need support and help to sort out. Often, an increased understanding of the challenges that you face can be very helpful to move forward in your life. As well, learning some new skills to manage the issues and/or gaining a new perspective on the issues can be useful as well. I appreciate that it is not easy to embark on a therapy course so I make every effort to be supportive and understanding as we build a therapy relationship."

"People come to counselling/psychotherapy for many reasons. Sometimes they are struggling with distressing emotions that get in the way of their productivity, daily functioning and peace of mind. Other times, they want to have better experiences in their relationships with family, friends, a loved-one or co-workers. In some cases they are going through periods of change and struggle to find balance and comfort in the midst of uncertainty. Coping Skills Counsellors
With coping skills or coping mechanisms, we learn to overcome issues like stress, depression, anger or anxiety.

Pro-active coping involves dealing with a problem by using constructive coping activities such as planning, confrontation, self-control and restraint. Overuse of coping mechanisms, like avoiding problems or working obsessively, can exasperate the weakness.

Emotion based coping skills reduce symptoms by addressing our feelings e.g. discussing the issues, distraction, relaxation, reframing or humor can all help. But negative coping mechanisms, which tend to be impulsive, like denial, projection, rationalization, repression or wishful thinking can make the underlying problem worse.

Some coping methods are more like bad habits than constructive life skills e.g. drinking and drugs. Other examples might include skin biting, nail biting or hair pulling (trichotillomania).

If you find it hard to cope or are having trouble coping, counsellors in M6C can help develop constructive coping skills for children, coping skills for kids and life coping skills.

If you're looking for help with coping skills in M6C or for a M6C coping skills counsellor, these professionals provide coping strategies. They include M6C coping skills counsellors, coping skills psychologists, coping skills psychotherapists and coping skills therapists.

How can I tell if a therapist is right for me?
Therapists in M6C are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, if you're seeking a marriage counsellor in M6C you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counselling or couples counselling in M6C and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counselling in M6C or family therapy in M6C.
