Clare Acheson
Psychologist, MC
I am a registered provisional psychologist with a diverse range of counselling experience. My approach is gentle, yet effective. It’s grounded in evidence based practises, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), and solution focused therapy (SFT). Most of my work is individual counselling with adults, but I also counsel children, adolescents, families, couples, partners, and groups. My clients have successfully addressed concerns including: trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, substance use, self-harm, discrimination, transitioning, communication and relationship concerns.
I have excellent skills in supporting clients coping with the effects of trauma; developed while counselling on the Chrysalis Anti-Human Trafficking Crisis Line. I also have specialised skills in supporting clients who do not identify as cisgender or heterosexal. Additionally, I’ve enjoyed working with kids diagnosed with autism, as a child support worker.
I currently work in private practise, offering hour-long sessions for $150. I am also happy to offer an initial 15 minute phone consultation for an opportunity learn about my counselling style, and to see if I’d make a good fit for you, or whomever you’re seeking counselling for. Please do not hesitate to contact me to set up an appointment.
