My work as a psychologist is to help children, youth, and adults feel more confident in who they are, to help individuals develop better deeper relationships, and improve an individual's overall feeling of well being.
Individuals are unique in their strengths and challenges. In a warm safe environment we focus on strengths, to deal with challenges in a person's life. Receipts are accepted by most insurance providers. I am registered as a NIHB provider., and WCB non accredited provider.

My heart is with parents of children who are struggling because one thing that I know for sure is that if we are no ok, our kids don't stand a chance. Learning and understanding the feelings, emotions and thoughts that arise can be so difficult and so confusing especially in the parenting arena. Renegotiating your parenting relationship as your child grows is something that can expose many negative core beliefs, "triggers" or buried emotions. Looking at those emotions, feeling them and processing them is something that through therapy has been deeply beneficial and can allow you to show up as the parent and person you wish to be.

Children as young as 3 as as old as 12 can benefit from this intervention.
Are you concerned about your child? Do they struggle talking about things? You have come to the right place. My name is Rhonda Stimpson and I am a Registered Social Worker working exclusively with children in the world of Play Therapy. Children experience difficulties in their lives but are often too young to work through those feelings with traditional talk therapy. Sometimes those difficulties can look like behavior problems, trouble at school and with friends or sleep problems. Often all it takes is an opportunity to express those feelings and emotions with a trained therapist.

Christin works with children ten years and younger.
Carter’s Counselling was founded by Katharine Carter, who is a social worker by training. Katharine recognized that, naturally, many services and supports exist in large urban centers such as Saskatoon, however access to resources is more limited in smaller communities such as Martensville. Katharine has made it her mission to ensure that Martensville and surrounding areas also have access to counselling, mental health services and other resources. Carter’s Counselling was created out of this social work value: that everyone should have equal access to services, regardless of where they live.

Integrating play therapies into my practice has allowed me to open my practice to all ages (we all have inner children who like to come out to play).
Having walked the journey myself, I am aware of how difficult the process of change can be. That's why I walk the journey with you. I meet you where you are, and collaboratively we decide what your journey to heal is. I am always excited to work with clients who know that they need to make changes to better their lives, even if they don't fully understand what those changes are. I bring in not only my formal education, but there is also room in my practice for your culture, spirituality, and anything else you need or want to use to help them on this journey of change.

I want to help families best support their child.
I am accepting new assessment clients. I am not currently accepting new therapy clients. I am a registered doctoral psychologist in the province of Saskatchewan. I primarily work with children and families. I currently offer psychodiagnostic and psychoeducational assessments for children and adolescents aged 6 to 16. I work with families who may wish to learn more about their child's thinking, learning, and emotional functioning; or are wondering if their child might have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a learning disability, an intellectual disorder or delays, a behavioural disorder, or anxiety-related disorder.

I work primarily with children ages four and up through play therapy. Because we cannot expect young children to sit down and discuss their problems and feelings like adults do, allowing a child to express themselves through play is very effective. This builds on the way children naturally communicate - through play! Play also creates a safe place for children to express something that they find troubling. This means that very difficult topics can be worked through in a playful or metaphorical way which is age appropriate for the child. I completed my play therapy training through the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute.

You've been considering therapy, but aren't so sure it can really help you. Or maybe you've tried therapy before, and you've talked your way around your issues more times than you can count with little relief. The intensity of emotions has been all consuming. Feelings of depression, anxiety, anger, fear are derailing daily life, and being able to show up any other way feels hopeless. You are yearning for change, ready to try something different to help you really move through those past experiences and change those trauma patterns. Whether you are wanting support for yourself or your child, I can help.

My focus is working with individuals who may be experiencing various stresses like anxiety, low mood; or perhaps difficulties managing emotions, and feeling reactive in interpersonal circumstances. With a background working with moderate to severe concerns of children & youth, I can support parents in identifying the concerns of their child, and support them in learning how to connect and attune to their children's needs. I also work with couples who are looking to strengthen their relationship and prepare for transitions like parenthood. Lastly, I enjoy integrating my Christian faith background into the practice as clients see fit.

Child Counsellors
Child psychologists in Saskatchewan provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in Saskatchewan build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
