I work with students impacted by Learning Disabilities (LD) (dyslexia, reading comprehension, low literacy), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) who struggle academically. Programming focuses on individual student needs "there is no one size fits all" for effective remediation/intervention. I work with students from elementary to post secondary educational levels. Students become familiar with personal strengths and weaknesses, learning style, study skills, time management and organization. Specialized software programs are used for literacy remediation. The overarching goal is to develop learner self awareness for enabling students to become competent, successful, independent learners while increasing self-esteem, self-confidence and grades.
I specialize in working with students who are often functioning well below their expected academic level given their age, grade, educational opportunity and intellectual potential. I make use of research based programs and strategies to promote academic success for students with a variety of specific needs and educational goals.
I have worked in the field for many years, providing intervention to individuals directly as well as providing educational workshops to educators, parents or other professionals working with individuals impacted by LD or ADHD. I find helping students reach their inspirational goals and reach academic succeed to be personally rewarding.
