I have worked in mental health for ten years and as an addiction counsellor for the last six. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Brain and Cognition; a Graduate Certificate in Addictions: Prevention and Treatment; and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I have treated a range of concerns such as anxiety, trauma symptoms, relationships, self-esteem, body image, communication skills, ADHD, sexual orientation, and gender identity. My approach as a therapist is client-centered, meaning that I put your perspectives and needs first. I also incorporate concepts from multiple other modalities.
I value the privilege of witnessing and holding my clients’ stories. I try to honor the courage and vulnerability exercised when we ask for help. I strive to remain nonjudgmental and curious while making generous assumptions.
It is also important to me to de-pathologize and normalize symptoms. Our mental health does not exist in a vacuum; we live in a society full of intersecting forms of oppression, and very often the symptoms we experience are valid responses to these conditions. My professional approach is also informed by my lived experience as a Queer, neurodivergent woman.
