Children's Expressive Arts Therapy Group

I created the Children’s Expressive Arts Therapy Group for children ages 8–12 experiencing anxiety, stress and difficult life circumstances. The group is hosted at the Blue Mountain Library and is available to kids from the Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Wasaga Beach and Stayner Area. Children communicate emotions more easily through creativity and symbolic expression than through words alone. Through expressive arts therapy, children learn how stress and trauma affect the brain, nervous system, emotions, and behaviour. Children develop emotional regulation skills, communication skills, self-expression, problem-solving abilities, and healthier coping strategies in a creative and developmentally supportive environment.
