Hi, I am Candace. I specialize in working with adult women who have experienced relational trauma, using both individual and group therapy. The truth is most of my clients do not use the term "rational trauma" to describe what they have experienced. Instead, they explain that they have decided to reach out for help because they desire to take control of their lives after experiences such as intimate partner violence and maltreatment, sexual abuse, sexual assault, workplace bullying, being betrayed by someone they trusted, childhood trauma and coping with the impact of being in a narcissistic abusive relationship.
My clients report that relational trauma impacts their ability to form meaningful relationships. Common symptoms that my clients share include: an intense mistrust of intimacy, social anxiety, depression, fear of being alone, difficulties sleeping, poor self-confidence, low-self-esteem, people-pleasing tendencies and poor boundary-setting skills.
Seeking therapy for relational trauma can be challenging and often requires sitting with difficult emotions and memories, which means finding the right therapist is essential. I strive to provide clients with the best possible therapeutic care by ensuring that my therapeutic relationships are built upon safety, warmth and empathy. Talk to you soon.
