I'm Brook, an intern counsellor at Summit Mental Wellness Clinic in Nelson, BC. I bring empathy, respect, and academic knowledge to every session with clients. I have extensive education in mental and physical health from obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Psychology: Brain and Cognition from the University of Guelph, a diploma in Holistic Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and am now completing my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. I am also trained in PEERS Social Skills Training for Young Adults through the UCLA.
Over the last year, I have worked very closely with clients as a Psychometrist, specifically with mental health concerns such as depression and anxiety, ADHD, autism and dyslexia. My main priority is to create a non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions and behaviors.
I view counselling as a holistic practice and lean on cognitive behavioral methods, strength-based approaches, goal achievement and relationship building. I offer low-fee counselling under the supervision of Robin Swift.
