You work with teenagers?!? is something I hear a lot. Do you remember the agony of being a teen? Feeling like you should have more choices than you do, and being almost as terrified of being called out as you were of being ignored? For the youth of today it's only gotten harder. Hi, my name is Brianna and I am a clinical counsellor specializing in youth ages 13 to 26, as well as parent-youth relationships. If you are a young person struggling with relationships, anxiety, depression, gender identity, or anything else, I'd like to listen. If you are a parent seeking to understand and communicate better with your child, I can help.
Using emotion-focused therapy, as well as emotion-focused family therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and somatic therapy, my goal is to help you get past your thinking self to your feeling self, and help you develop an understanding of your needs so you can learn to fill them, and communicate them to those you love and trust.
I hope to build a close relationship with each client based on trust, honesty and humour, and this has worked well for me working with youth over the past decade. I pride myself on being direct, and that's not for everyone but if you like that style of communication with a few funny moments thrown in for good measure, then we could be a great team!
