I offer relationship recovery therapy including Attachment, Brainspotting and IFS modalities for individuals & couples.
Confused, drained or ALONE in your relationship? Are you putting the needs of others before your own? Are you changing yourself (like a chameleon) in order to feel appreciated? If the other person becomes your main focus and you modify your behaviors and ignore your needs to keep the relationship going at any cost, you have codependency. Codependents are MAGNETS for entitled, narcissistic, grandiose personalities. The ensuing relationship can stumble along for a LONG time, requiring huge amounts of effort and energy to keep up until finally it falls apart. When it does, you feel betrayed and abandoned (codependent's biggest fear).

It takes a lot of courage to decide to seek support. We start where you are and go at a pace that is comfortable for you. I work with feminist and anti-oppressive perspectives. The areas around which I have experience include depression, anxiety, compassion fatigue, trauma, relationship violence, grief, issues around being queer, questioning your sexual orientation and transitioning genders, immigrant and refugee settlement, and culture shock. With clients, I primarily employ the evidence based approaches of Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, Brainspotting, Attachment Theory, mindfulness, and Polyvagal Theory.

I use a combination of different experiential approaches in therapy, including mindfulness (MiCBT), hypnotherapy and Brainspotting.
Wait list only at this time. Are you looking to get a deeper understanding and heal from the various difficulties you are experiencing? Psychotherapy that involves the mind-body connection can help with this. It can release any accumulated stress or blockages that might be affecting your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. This can help you reconnect with your self in many ways and better understand your emotions, needs and wants. I also provide psychotherapy for psychedelic integration to those who had psychedelic treatments and wish to make sense of and integrate their experiences.

I have an eclectic approach that includes Brainspotting in additional to talk therapy.
I currently have space virtually and Tues/Wed evenings. I work with children, youth, adults and couples in a variety of areas. As part of a blended family, I have a special interest in the experience of step-parenting and the often challenging dynamics. In my work with children I work closely with parents to integrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices at home. I enjoy supporting couples to find new ways to communicate and understand one another, and to break the unhelpful patterns we all tend to fall into.

I also work in Brainspotting.
I accompany clients from a place of compassion, creativity, warmth, and humour as they move from the wounds of interpersonal, systemic, and intergenerational trauma (e.g., neglect, identity-based violence, childhood or intimate partner violence, premature death) towards fulfilling lives rooted in posttraumatic growth. In addition to working with clients who have experienced trauma and its related effects, I also work with clients who identify as experiencing stress (including anxiety disorders), sadness or depression, persistent guilt and shame, life transitions, grief, and existential questions related to life purpose and identity.

Approaches like Brainspotting and Safe and Sound Protocol can help with that.
Now open Monday through Saturday. Psychotherapy and couples counselling are available in office and online. I love listening carefully to my clients' life stories and asking just the right questions at just the right time to help them think through the problems differently. I am a Registered Social Worker and Sociologist. I use Narrative Therapy, a gentle talk therapy that is client-centered and strengths-based. My approach is informed by research with an understanding of the nervous system. This means, I help clients understand and work with their own nervous system as we talk. My approach is also CBT, DBT & EFT informed.

I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting to target deeper, more meaningful healing so that you can both know and feel your enoughness.
Childhood Sexual Abuse & Trauma Therapy - I help intra-familial childhood sexual abuse survivors own their enoughness. Painful past experiences shape the way we show up and navigate through our present day lives and the world around us. Without deep healing of these experiences, we can feel stuck; like nothing is working. It feels hopeless and discouraging. You likely landed here because it’s all gotten to be too much - I see you and I am so glad you're here. I provide a warm space to explore present day anxieties and get you past that feeling of stuckness. Let's help you rebuild your mind-body connection.

I work in a warm, gentle and collaborative relationship with you to foster your healing processes and growth. Many clients use psychotherapy as a safe container to understand themselves better and consider our work an integral part of their self-care practice. Many of my clients' goals are to learn to have more compassionate, aware and accepting relationships with themselves and to deepen their ability to connect with others in meaningful and more satisfying ways.

Brainspotting Counsellors

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
