About
The most important thing to me as a therapist is to be helpful to you. I will have some ideas about that, but I will also look to you for ideas. I will listen closely, try to understand you and your life from your perspective. I’ll ask questions and may offer alternative ways of looking at things. We may also plan for you to do things in your life outside the office, in between the times we meet, and this may involve trying do things differently, and doing things that are difficult. Sometimes therapy is about change, and sometimes it may be about accepting what has changed. We'll figure out together what therapy means for you.
I enjoy working with youth and families, and adults of all ages. I have extensive experience and training working with adolescents struggling with low mood, anxiety, behavioural challenges and extreme emotions. I am strongly influenced by behavioural therapies (ACT), (DBT) and (CBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy, and integrate aspects of these approaches.
If it feels like there are thoughts or feelings holding you back from living the life you want; if you feel stuck; if your relationships are not how you’d like them to be; If you’re not sure who you are; if you’re just confused by some aspect of your life or identity…these are times where therapy can be helpful - consider giving it a try :)
