Integrate a strength-based approach, utilizing aspects of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy; and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
I work with a passion for guiding individuals towards emotional growth and change that reflects their wants and needs. I have an understanding that not every individual is the same, and all humans have different experiences, and responses to life. I establish trust and a nonjudgmental atmosphere. I gear towards active listening in order to deeply comprehend the concerns and needs of the individuals I see, fostering a strong therapeutic bond. With a nonjudgmental attitude, I will embrace individuals for who they are. Come on in, and let’s take this walk together.

I employ various forms of therapy, with the main ones being Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion-Focused therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT), and Solution- Focused therapy (SFT).
My approach is to use various therapeutic techniques to target symptoms of stress, mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, grief and loss, school-related issues, relationship issues, emotional distress, and trauma. I also have experience working with special needs, such as ADHD. My goal is for you to feel empowered, less overwhelmed and burdened, and more capable of making and maintaining positive change in your life as a whole. I also encourage clients to be open and voice what works and what doesn't in therapy for them, as only you know yourself and your needs best! Please note that, at this time, I only offer online therapy.

Pause. Exhale. Are you tired of talking but still feel stuck? Have you hit a dead end and still experience unresolved or unexplained thoughts, feelings, pain or other symptoms? I help people improve mental and physical health and performance through the application of behavioral learning principles to breathing physiology. This is not yoga. This is not meditation. This is applied psychophysiology. Breath Behavioral Analysis with biofeedback assisted breathing retraining, combined with Somatic Breath Therapy give you the tools to completely shift your breath and life. What if it could be as easy as adjusting your exhale?

Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy Approaches, I will journey with you, not as an expert, but as a coach.
Hi there! Do you sometimes feel so overwhelmed that just getting out of bed becomes a challenge? As someone who has been there, I know life can throw some pretty hard stuff our way. Health problems, job losses, marital issues, children acting out......you name it...... these and more can make us so overwhelmed that we are tempted to give up. Please don’t. Having someone to talk to can often provide clarity and validation of what we are going through. It would be my honour to work with you and help you sort through the maze.

), anger, anxiety/depression, grief, behavioral concerns, social skills/peer relationships, and bullying - to name a few! Not sure if play therapy will address your child's need? Please reach out!.
I work primarily with children ages four and up through play therapy. Because we cannot expect young children to sit down and discuss their problems and feelings like adults do, allowing a child to express themselves through play is very effective. This builds on the way children naturally communicate - through play! Play also creates a safe place for children to express something that they find troubling. This means that very difficult topics can be worked through in a playful or metaphorical way which is age appropriate for the child. I completed my play therapy training through the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute.

My therapeutic approaches tend toward a blend of varying CBT (Cognitive Behavioral) therapies, while drawing from Narrative / Solution - Focused approaches.
Many of my clients have experienced panic attacks, obsessive worry, depression, low self esteem, irritability / anger - that have been brought on or worsened by relationship difficulties and traumatic experiences. Life can be very hard - when we feel hurt, scared, or humiliated, our impulse is to withdraw from others or pretend everything okay. My clients have often found themselves stuck in these defensive modes - feeling no way to turn. If you hope for change and are willing to reach out, please don't hesitate .... you are worth it!

Effective regulation occurs in the context of healthy relationships, which is something we ideally learn through our early experiences. When people experience anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, lost intimacy, communication and conflict issues, low self-esteem, addictions and substance abuse, parenting difficulties, and work and school issues, just to name a few, the root cause is commonly the result of a dysregulated nervous system. I specialize in helping clients understand their experience through the lens of attachment, trauma, learned behavior, and adaptive nervous system regulation.

Life is busy and demanding, often throwing unexpected curve balls our way. Finding a safe and supportive place to discuss these unexpected occurrences and ground yourself is a great first step towards achieving balance and working through unresolved issues and traumas. I am a firm believer that you are the expert of your self and your journey; I am here to meet you where you are at and help you to navigate, to slow down, and to bring awareness to those hidden details that often go unnoticed. I do not believe in rushing toward an end goal, but rather taking time and space to understand what it is that has occurred and moving forward.

Behavioural Issues Counsellors

What happens in therapy for behavioural issues?

No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behaviour issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.

What therapy types help with behavioural issues?

Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.

How long does therapy last for behavioural issues?

Among popular approaches to treating behavioural concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behaviour management, often used when the underlying cause of behaviour issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioural issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.

How effective is therapy for behaviour issues?

Studies show that therapy for behaviour issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behaviour later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behaviour. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
