I am the owner of Home Grown Occupational Therapy, and an Occupational Therapist working in neurodivergent mental health. I hold degrees from Dalhousie University, Carleton University and McMaster University. I am also neurodivergent myself, with a later-in-life diagnosis of ADHD. I find this to be a strength when working with other ND people. Many of my clients have diagnoses of (or are querying if they have) autism, ADHD and/or OCD. As a trauma-informed mental health OT, I believe we all need meaningful occupations, roles and activities to lead.
We'll work on skills in sessions, and integrate them between sessions. Typical topics covered are: self-compassion, emotional regulation, burnout recovery and prevention, education, pacing and scheduling, inertia, sensory needs, values and unmasking, work and school accommodations, and identifying and accessing other resources like the Disability Tax Credit
I use a reduced rate of $90/session with 15% of my clients and typically reserve these spots for clients without insurance. I only see clients virtually, and on M, W, Th from 10:30-3:30. I'm able to see clients 16 and up, located in NS, NB, NL and any of the territories. I work within an anti-colonial framework that I try to continuously adjust
