Anxiety Therapists in White Rock, BC
I specialize in teens and young adults but welcome any clients over the age of 13. The adolescent years into early adulthood are full of changes and challenges that can be hard to navigate and often feel confusing. Dynamics can shift within families, friendship groups, and within us. These are the years where you begin to reshape and solidify your identity and values, and this can feel both exciting and overwhelming. I offer an objective point of view that encourages clients to consider different perspectives which helps them learn to become more self-aware, compassionate towards others and themselves and more resilient.

I see people who have anxiety, depression, personality disorders, grief, etc.
When you notice there is something getting in the way of living your best life, remember that the “obstacle is the way”. This means that the way to the life you want is through this difficulty, which can become an entryway into more of what you want. I am here to help you move through obstacles until they become the way towards your best life. My goal as a therapist is to help people live a more balanced and connected life. I’m in my element as I create a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental counseling environment, where people can explore the complexities of their lives. I work with clients from a holistic perspective.

Together, we can come up with a plan to achieve your goals and work through your deepest issues, whether that be unresolved PTSD, trauma, addiction, grief, anxiety, or depression.
Working collaboratively, we'll get to the root of your emotional wounds, allowing you to heal, and understand yourself better in the process. In our sessions, we'll use trauma processing therapies that are evidenced-based and proven to be effective (e.g., EMDR). We'll also bring in somatic interventions to help you feel more grounded in your body.

On the inside, your body feels tense, anxious, overwhelmed—or shut down.
I work with people who are ready for real relief, not just insight. Rather than just talking about your problems, we work directly with your nervous system through evidence based approaches to create real, observable change in how you react, cope, and behave day to day.

I work with individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, burnout, and the pressure to keep it all together.
Burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes it’s showing up, doing it all, and quietly vanishing under the weight.
You’re caffeinated, people-pleasing, overthinking every choice, and stuck in the same exhausting patterns with partners, friends, or family.
Maybe you’re snappy, drained, and wondering why “doing everything right” still feels… wrong. I’ve been there. You don’t have to stay there.

Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, stuck or weighed down by self-doubt, anxiety, or difficult relationships.
Wai-Han (慧嫻) is my name — Wai meaning wisdom, and Han meaning elegance. I was born and raised in a shame-based culture, where early messages often felt opposite to my name — that I was not enough. Over time, I came to understand the deep impact words can have: how they shape how we see ourselves, and how they can wound or bring life. Through my own journey of healing, I experienced how words can also bring restoration, freedom, and a renewed sense of self. That is part of why I care deeply about offering a space where people can bring the parts of themselves that feel ashamed, hidden or hard to name, and be met with care and warmth.

Your worries play over and over in your head like a broken record, and you can't seem to just enjoy life and be yourself.
Underneath all these thoughts and feelings might be your deepest fear - that there’s something fundamentally wrong with you, that your whole life will be like this, or that somehow your brain just “doesn’t work right.” And what you're really seeking is peace, happiness, and connection. You want to feel joy again, and worry less.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
